Back from Rome.

Irish College Rome Monday evening 21-1-13
I was in Rome from Monday 21st to Friday 25th. My stay this time was in the Irish College. It is a great place to stay and the staff were so welcoming, so different to the Casa de Clero's in the city. I was made feel welcome by Mons. Ciaran, Fr. George and Fr. Hugh. I met priests and seminarians from Ireland who were also on a short break to Rome. I also caught up with my co diocesans living and studying in the Irish College , Fr Paul  and Patrick, one of our seminarians. The college is located  10 minutes from the Colosseum and is just off the Piazza of St John Lateran. The college is well serviced by public transport and makes it easy to get around Rome. There is a house on the grounds called Villa Irlanda which has accommodation for people visiting Rome.

The weather was a bit Irish in that it rained and when I returned to Ireland it was raining.

Tomorrow we have the Consecration of our new Bishop. It will be an interesting ceremony as it will tell us a bit about our new Bishop. Will the liturgy be imbued with the teachings of Pope Benedict or will it be like last years Congress, same old same old? watch this space.

COFACE the Confederation of  Family Organisations in the European Union will be holding a conference in Dublin between the 4 and 5th of February.  It appears that the ICA is the member group for Ireland.  The conference is opened to all and I think Catholics should try and get to it as it appears to have a liberal agenda. All info needed is on their website which is linked above.

`There was a great turnout for the Vigil For Life last weekend. As usual the liberal Media tried to play things down but really you cannot silence between 25,000 and 30,000 people. The minuscule pro abortion meeting was given almost equal billing. The Pro Aborts peddled the same old myths  and were not challenged by any of the media. They claimed that the vigil was pay rolled by the Americans, what they failed to say was that their own campaign is pay rolled by the Irish Taxpayers. All the political parties in this country get money from the state and as we have seen all but FF are backing abortion. The Women's Council of Ireland, various " family planning" organisations get tax payers money, all are Pro Abortion. If the Pro Aborts want to start looking for money trails let them start in their own back yard.
Enda Kenny was once again backtracking on his election promises. He claims now never to have promised that FG would not introduce abortion despite letters proving otherwise.  Obviously Enda holds the same view of election promises as Pat Rabbitte.

  1. Any sign of Mary Mac in the Villa?!

As to the consecration ceremony today, it left a lot to be desired. Very little sign of the Benedictine reform.
